The development journey of NovaStress

The stress calculation module to our casting simulation software has been heavily improved during the last few years and here are the major updates:

• Irregular mesh in mold – Reducing the number of elements a lot of which reduce calculation time and file sizes.

• Full contact task, meaning that we now also can calculate stresses in the cores, molds, chills and so on. This makes it possible to investigate core cracks but it also makes the calculation of the casting more accurate since it does not depend on a single mold hardness value but mold strength values.

• We have parallellized the calculation which makes it possible to use multiple processors for the calculation.

• We have added some new result fields.

• We have have also made it possible to calculate more than one stress calculation per solidification simulation.
